eaceful and quirky. Surrounded by nature. Like the green
mountains giving way to palm-lined beaches, worlds
collide in Ventura. Combined, they flourish. Artists have
flocked here for decades, finding inspiration in the welcoming
mix and bolstered by an affordable lifestyle that leaves plenty of
room for the freedom and flexibility to create.
But don't take our word for it - see for yourself. Whether you
explore the streets of Ventura by car, by bike, or by foot, you'll
quickly notice that there is (literally) art around every corner.
From vibrant large-scale murals painted on public buildings to
utility boxes with flair, this a city of beautiful discoveries.
The true spirit of our creative culture is purely Ventura because
it's undeniably authentic. Our community clearly values art,
from the institutional level to the galleries and studio spaces
to the street. It always has. The 60-year-old Buenaventura Art
Association supports visual artists in all stages of their careers,
and it's still going strong. Working Artists Ventura (WAV) is a
local live/work space dedicated to providing affordable housing
and studio space to qualifying artists of many types, including
painters, photographers, and filmmakers.
