Art meets community at the Museum of
Ventura County, where the mission is to
make art feel accessible, experiential, and
inclusive to locals and visitors alike. Right
now, the museum is in the energetic midst of
a five-year reinvention plan to bring a fresh
approach and edgier content, evident in its
list of rotating exhibitions. There are also free
monthly lectures, seasonal concert series,
and regular free drawing classes. Take the
kids on the first Sunday of the month, when
family admission is free and the museum
hosts all sorts of kid-approved activities.

the impressive array of studio spaces and
galleries around town. Don't miss First
Fridays at Bell Arts Factory for open
studios, live art, and live music. Other
must-sees include Stoneworks Studios and
Galleries and the stunning photography
at Latitudes Gallery. Discover the artist
in you by trying an art class at Vita Art
Center or Red Brick Art, which also
hosts painting parties and paint-and-sip
nights. Fresh, funky, true - the state of the
arts is good.

artist and activist who often live-paints
at local fundraisers and in her favorite
natural spots, like the amazing beautiful
farmlands surrounding her hometown.
