The 38 event professionals donned blindfolds for Dinner in the Dark and let their remaining senses take control of the meal. Once blindfolded, guests were escorted into a private dining room, where servers gave verbal commands on the locations of utensils and wine and water glasses. Without their sight, diners used the rest of their senses to experience the dinner event experience in a new way. “Dark dining is not a new concept, but it is new to the Philadelphia region,” said David Jackson, sales director for the CVB. “Then again, the Pocono Mountains aren’t a new concept—we draw more than 8 million personal trips a year. By bringing a small number of regional partners into the heart of Philadelphia and presenting ourselves in a totally different format, we opened a lot of eyes in the meetings community.”—Jim Cohn 88 one+ 01.11 > Book It The MPI Store can jump-start your career with this and other books that matter.
