Right now, my primary passion is helping other people ask more questions of themselves. To question the things they take for granted, to be open to seeing things in a new way, from a wider perspective. What is the best advice you’ve received? Lots of good advice from too many people to remember. But one thing that comes to mind is “Follow your heart, not your mind.” What was the last book you read or movie you saw that caused you to think or see things differently? If I’m honest with myself, everything I’ve ever read or seen has caused me to think and see things differently. However, something that should be read by more people is Michael Singer’s book The Untethered Soul. Complete this sentence: Speaking to an audience makes me feel… ...lucky that they are there listening (assuming they’re listening!). What is your favorite meal? Where’s your favorite place to eat it? Love Japanese/sushi and Indian food. Best places to eat it are in Japan and India! What has been your greatest failure? Letting my self-imposed mental limits influence and impose limits on my actions that could otherwise help more people. This is a failure that happens every day! What is your passion? Creativity! I love imagining something that doesn’t currently exist and bringing it to life. I do this in the business world, in my books and also as a jazz guitarist. What is the best advice you’ve received? “Challenge everything, assume nothing.” What was the last book you read or movie you saw that caused you to think or see things differently? Daniel Pink’s book, Drive, which deals with the human psychology of motivation. Great book and powerful message for us all. Complete this sentence: Speaking to an audience makes me feel… …invigorated and grateful. What is your favorite meal? Where’s your favorite place to eat it? Greasy pizza! A little dive joint in the metro-Detroit area named Sila’s has my heart. Old school, not fancy, but really down to earth and amazing food! What has been your greatest failure? Not trusting my own instincts and relying on “experts” or “conventional wisdom.” My biggest setbacks have been when I strayed from my heart and my passion. Turned out that “playing it safe” was the riskiest move of all. The times I broke the mold and did more “risky” things were my greatest successes. What is your passion? Working with people who are trying to make a difference in the world’s most challenging issues. What is the best advice you’ve received? 1) Never ask someone to be more honest with you than they’re able to be with themselves. 2) Sometimes a delusion of grandeur is a necessary first step to grandeur. What was the last book you read or movie you saw that caused you to think or see things differently? A beautiful, handwritten ship’s manifest that, upon further inspection, was a list of slaves’ names and prices. Complete this sentence: Speaking to an audience makes me feel… ...like change is possible. What is your favorite meal? Where’s your favorite place to eat it? A Costco hot dog. What has been your greatest failure? Many expensive learning experiences, no failures. >> Hosted Buyers Wanted! Curious about the 2011 WEC hosted-buyer program?
