an MP3 Player for stored audio on microSD playing back through the effects, as well as crossfading between MP3 and external audio input. Both units offer built-in mics to record audio directly. Also new: The Monotron DUO and Monotron DELAY ribbon analog synthesizers ($70 each), which add a second oscillator with cross-modulation or a powerful delay line to the original Monotron handheld synthesizer. KRK Systems (krksys.com), now part of Gibson’s new Pro Audio division, is now shipping the new KRK 12sHO and KRK 12s powered subwoofers ($1499 and $799). The 12sHO has a 12" driver and 400W RMS of amplifier power and a low frequency limit of 29 Hz, while the 12s has 240W RMS power rating and a 32 Hz limit. Lauten Audio (lautenaudio.com) debuted the Atlantis microphone ($1599), a 31.25 mm dual large-diaphragm condenser mic with cardioid, omni, or figure-8 polar pattern switching, a gain switch that can provide a –10 dB pad or +10 dB of gain, and a voicing switch that changes the mic’s timbre, with settings for Gentle, Neutral, and Forward. Lewitt (lewitt-audio.com) displayed its two newest mics, the LCT 840 and LCT 940 ($1399 and $2099). These are Lewitt’s first tube-based offerings, and feature five polar patterns and a 1" capsule. The LCT 940 has both tube and FET-based electronics that work independently of one another.

(nomadfactory.com) premiered MAGMA ($199), a plug-in suite of 50 different audio processors in a “single rackspace” layout, usable alone or built into virtual effect racks. Effects include equalizers, dynamics processors, reverbs, modulation effects, overdrives, amp simulators, and much more. Synthogy (synthogy.com) demonstrated the new Ivory II—American Concert D virtual piano ($199), a massively sampled (up to 20 velocity levels) 1951 New York Steinway Model D. Vienna Symphonic Library (vsl.co.at) demonstrated seamless integration between the Vienna MIR spatial effect/reverb plug-in and the Vienna Ensemble PRO 5 mixing/networking host software. IsoAcoustics (isoacoustics.com) showed its ISO•L8R155 speaker isolation stands (reviewed in this issue) as well as a prototype of the new ISO•L8R200 (price TBA) intended for larger monitors. Jammin Pro (jamminpro.net) hosted a new line of signal processors from Marani (marani.com.cn), including the CLP line of rackmount compressors, with two single-band models and a multiband digital model, and the KMP series of microphone processors, rackmount mic preamps with built-in analog compression and optional mic modeling. Josephson Engineering (josephson.com) and Great River Electronics (greatriverelectronics.com) were new faces at the show, sharing a booth to display the C716 cardioid condenser mic ($4000 street) and the MixMaster 20 ($6500) DAW analog front end. Korg (korg.com) premiered the Kaossilator 2 ($220), a pocketsized dynamic phrase synthesizer that can play back and manipulate sounds, rhythm loops, and even drum samples with a touch of its XY pad, with the ability to loop, overdub, record, and save the results on microSD cards. The Mini Kaoss Pad 2 ($220) uses a similar XY touchpad to control a variety of audio effects, and includes
