program because they had more capacity to host the MSU students than urban schools. It was an added bonus that education staff at the Caboolture campus had already developed strong partnerships with local public schools, thus ensuring better support for students on the MSU program.

Key components of the program
The final version of the program, as it was delivered in March 2009, was designed to integrate an overseas teaching experience with formal learning opportunities, combined with a high level of academic support and pastoral care from QUT staff. Since the program’s inception, key components have remained, but have been improved each semester to provide the highest quality experience possible. These changes were determined through interviews, journal entries, and surveys completed by all stakeholders in the program. These components and adjustments included the following.
