PCOC - Fall 2010 - (Page 7)
Three Key Areas
By Ron Suber 2010-2011 President
I hope you were able to attend our annual convention in June at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Monterey. If you were, you witnessed firsthand what a fabulous success it was. We had record attendance from both PCOC members and exhibitors! All attendees enjoyed our two keynote speakers as well as the sites and activities of the Monterey area.
In my president’s remarks at the installation banquet, I spoke about some areas I believe we should pay attention to in the coming months: AREA ONE: Regulatory changes from the Department of Consumer Affairs to the Department of Pesticide Regulation relating to the Structural Pest Control Board will have some longrange effects on the industry for years to come. We have an executive team in place to make sure that our industry makes its voice heard. AREA TWO: Our local, state, and national legislative representation needs our attention. Our PCOC Legislative Day in Sacramento was a great success. We met elected officials on their ground without any major issues to discuss. As bills are introduced, we will need to follow up and call on them again to express our voices and opinions. With our recent joint efforts with NPMA, we will have a greater impact on national legislation. AREA THREE: In your local community, your efforts to solve your customers’ problems or issues using IPM or green pest management will be the most important. As you know, pesticides are only dangerous when improperly applied. We need to use green/IPM in all areas of our business. I look forward to serving as your president in the coming year. If I may be of assistance to you and your family or business, please contact me through the PCOC office.
