Of course it’s your lifeblood and one of the things you do best. We benefited from your sales skills during the MODEX Show held in Atlanta last February, and we have many of you to thank for it. Here’s what happened… During the shows (ProMat and now MODEX) MHEDA provides a sign to every member who is exhibit ing at t he show wh ich reads: Proud Member of MHEDA. Thank you to everyone who displayed this sign in their booth! For those of you who attended the show you know how busy and well attended it was. (Kudos to our friends at MHIA for organizing such a productive event!) We s p e nt fou r d ays t a l k i n g to members and lots of prospective members about the value of MHEDA. One particular company was considering membership in MHEDA and to evaluate their decision, they decided to test the waters and visited all the members who had a MHEDA sign displayed in their booth and asked them, “Why should we be a member?” W he n t he y r e t u r ne d to t he MHEDA booth they told us that every single member they talked with gave MHEDA a unanimous vote of approval and that sealed the deal. Thank you for this, and we are thrilled to hear you are pleased with your membership. A whop- ping 19 new members joined during MODEX and we can’t thank you enough for your testimonials about MHEDA and your supportive sales efforts! For a list of all the recent new members, turn to page 65. In addition to welcoming nearly 30 new members to MHEDA so far this year, we have a lot of momentum going. Convention registration is tracking well over last year and we are reaching attendance numbers we haven’t seen for several years. We have more sessions on the program than ever before welcoming 19 speakers who will provide content on timely topics like Customer Service Automation, Financial Benchmarking, Branding, Social Media, On-Boarding Technicians, Strengthening your Bank- ing Relationship and more. And for the first time ever, we are introducing Poken, a cutting edge electronic networking tool that’s sure to create a lot of excitement and bring networking to a whole new level. Hope you will join us May 5-9 in Miami Beach. We are honored to be working closely wit h Howa rd Bernstein, 1965 past president of MHEDA and founder/former chairman of Altas Lift Truck Rentals who recently announced the establishment of the Howard Bernstein Scholarship Fund to help promote the study of material handling and provide assistance to students who are working toward a career in this exciting industry. Howard has generously contributed $150,000 to seed this scholarship and with your support, hopes to perpetuate this scholarship for many years to come. You’ll hear more about this during convention and throughout the year. This issue marks the first MHEDA Journal produced by our new publishing partner, Naylor, LLC. We have been hearing lots of positive comments from members who have been working with them and have many plans for enhancements to MHEDA media, both in print and online. We appreciate your support of MHEDA publications! We are grateful to all of you for your ongoing involvement and look forward to serving you throughout t h is yea r a nd beyond.
