SPOTLIGHT ON ASSOCIATION NEWS New Conferences from MHEDA University Looking for a new way to connect with your material handling industry peers and engage in interesting discussions? MHEDA has designed two conferences that offer “real” world advice from “real” world industry leaders. Join us on August 2-3 for the Emerging Leaders Conference at the Eaglewood Resort & Spa in Itasca, IL. MHEDA has designed a new conference for emerging leaders who want to move up the career ladder. Topics include: the role of a leader, sales, marketing, people/project development and even a two-hour workshop on the impact of social media. We’ve booked 10 outstanding speakers with the insight and energy you’ve been looking for. It’s an event you do not want to miss. On September 13-14, join us for the Rental and Used Equipment Management Conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois. This conference will focus on best practices and strategies to maximize the profitability of a dealer’s rental and used equipment departments. You’ll also enjoy learning from your industry peers during networking events such as roundtables, meal functions and a group tour of a local MHEDA member’s facility (Atlas Toyota Material Handling). MHEDA has created these presentations in a way that will allow you to share ideas in a structured presentation that keeps the conference on course but allows flexibility for participants to ask relevant questions and gain best practices knowledge from the group. For more information or to register, visit www.mheda.org or call MHEDA at 847.680.3500. Two Industry Reports Available Through MHEDA MHEDA has completed two of the best surveys in the Material Handling Industry and the results are now available to members. The overall Industry DiSC Report for the year ending 2011 has been tabulated and the results provide the most comprehensive set of benchmarks available on financial performance for both industrial truck dealers and storage and handling/engineered systems dealers. Currie Management conducted this survey and the results offer analysis and suggested action plans to the data presented that can initiate action plans to improve organization performance. The Employee Compensation Report presents the results of Profit Planning Group’s 2012 Employee Compensation Study of the Distribution Industry. This study analyzes 2011 compensation data submitted by 1,125 U.S. firms for more than 8,000 locations. The complete results are presented in two documents. Combined, they provide the most complete source of information available about compensation and benefit practices for distribution industries. Volume 1: MHEDA Detailed Report based on data submitted from 102 Members This report provides information about both executive and employee compensation including salaries, bonuses, commissions and perks. It also includes details about fringe benefits such as health insurance, retirement programs and employee time off. Volume 2: Industry Report based on data submitted from 26 other distribution organizations The industry report presents the analysis of all participating firms. Firms were categorized into more than 20 sales volumes and over 100 geographic areas. If you would like to purchase these reports, visit www.mheda.org or call the MHEDA office at 847-680-3500.
