The Industry’s Finest Will Be at the Moxie Awards Gala!

It’s that time of the year again when the Electronic Retailing Association (ERA) will recognize marketing excellence and unite the industry for one special event: the ERA Moxie Awards Gala. On September 13, please join us at the Wynn Hotel, Las Vegas, as we reveal the year’s finest direct response marketing campaigns, pay tribute to industry colleagues and close the book on what’s certain to be a memorable 2012 ERA D2C Convention! Last month, we opened our Ca ll for Submissions period and have promoted the Moxie Awards program to the marketing community via email, the magazine and newsletters. The deadline for submissions and materials is June 1, and I highly encourage you to participate. To access an Awards Submission Packet or for more information about purchasing tickets to this year’s Moxie Awards Gala, please visit retailing.org/awards. ERA, once again, will present more than 30 awards to companies and individuals for their outstanding achievements in television, radio, online and mobile. Some of last year’s winners include: Wen by Chaz Dean, Best Long Form of the Year – over $250K; Save with CarMD, Best Long Form of the Year – under $250K; rip:60 with George St. Pierre and Jillian Michaels, Best Short Form of the Year – over $50K; and Pajama Jeans, Best Short Form of the Year – under $50K. One notable change to the Moxie Awards is for the Lifetime Achievement Award. ERA’s Board of Directors strongly felt that ERA members should

be the one to nominate candidates. If you know of a deserving individual who’s made significant contributions to the industry, please make your voice heard and submit a nomination on his or her behalf. Nomination forms are accessible at retailing.org/awards. The Board will review all nominations and make the final decision. Find out who will be named the award recipient on September 13. Another highly anticipated award is the 2012 Marketer of the Year. Last year, the Moxie Awards Task Force chose Beachbody, LLC, to receive this coveted award. In fact, you can read more about the company and its co-founders, Carl Daikeler and Jon Congdon, in this month’s issue of Electronic Retailer magazine beginning on page 22. You’ll find their story quite compelling. The Moxie Awards Gala is an event you won’t want to miss. It’s an important time to celebrate the companies and individuals who make a significant difference in this thriving industry through their exceptional work and dedication. Lastly, this month many of you in the industry will be attending ERA’s Government Affairs Fly-In in Washington, D.C., May 7-8. During this two-day event, you’ll help policymakers understand the direct-to-consumer industry, its purpose of establishing solid engagement with consumers and the role self-regulation plays in ensuring that ERA members and the industry as a whole remain honest brokers with customers. It will be a great event, and I look forward to seeing you in D.C.!
