Foresight might just be the perfect word to describe Kevin Harrington’s staying power in the decidedly competitive arena called direct-to-consumer commerce. For more than 25 years, this successful entrepreneur has been incessantly asking himself, “How can I build for the future and continue to be a leader in the marketplace?” Harrington is known as the principal architect behind more than 500 product launches, which have resulted in sales surpassing $4 billion worldwide. What’s more, 20 of those products reached the $100 million-plus mark in individual sales. Yet, despite all his achievements, he refuses to rest on his laurels. Harrington admits, “I’m the kind of guy who’s always thinking down the line.” He notes that back in the early 1990s – together with his first company, Quantum – Harrington was one of the first to pioneer the global expansion of infomercials. “I opened the London office 21 years ago,” he explains. From there, Quantum rose to the top of the international direct response market. Today, Harrington can be seen on ABC’s hit reality show “Shark Tank,” which has been picked up for a third season. When he’s not in front of the camera, Harrington concentrates on his current company, TVGoods, a wholly owned subsidiary of H&H Imports, Inc., which is a direct response marketing organization based in Clearwater, Fla. Most recently, Harrington announced in June 2011 that TVGoods had purchased AsSeenOnTV.com. Electronic Retailer sat down with Harrington to learn more about the backstory surrounding the AsSeenOnTV. com acquisition; his plans for growing
