ERA Europe Executive Director Marcel Avargues and incoming Chairman Julian Oberndörfer of HSE24 then launched ERA Europe’s new “Shop with Confidence” seal and website in front of the gathered executives, followed later by a champagne toast in the Conference Expo area. This “Shop with Confidence” seal will be displayed on member companies’ websites and will link to a special B2C website where the association member commitments are listed, enabling consumers to see at a glance which electronic or distance-selling retailers have committed to the ERA Europe Self-Regulation Charter, which ensures responsible trade, fair product presentation, cost transparency, reputable return practices and compliance with data privacy provisions.

Oberndörfer said, “We appeal to companies in the industry that have yet to commit to the ERA Europe standards to follow suit. Ensuring the best possible protection of customer interests can only be assured if the industry as a whole commits to these high and uniform consumer protection standards.” The conference was also full of networking opportunities, with events on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. The Monday Night Networking Event – this year a Berlin bus tour followed by dinner and dancing into the wee hours – is always a notable highlight of the event. Kevin Harrington to Receive ERA Lifetime Achievement Award at the Moxie Awards Gala
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Kevin Harrington, chairman and founder of As Seen On TV, Inc., publicly traded as ASTV, will be honored with this year’s prestigious Electronic Retailing Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be recognized during a special presentation at the 2012 Moxie Awards Gala on Thursday, September 13, 7:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m., at the 2012 ERA D2C Convention at the Wynn Las Vegas. The ER A Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a deserving member whose work has had a demonstrable impact on the industry and has been acknowledged as doing so by colleagues in the industry and the general public. Harrington will join past honorees Katie Williams, Billy Mays, Earl Greenburg, Rob Woodrooffe, Timothy Hawthorne, Greg Renker, Joe Segel, Suzanne Somers, Mike Levey and Ron Popeil. “As a founding member of ERA and as a marketing innovator, Kevin Harrington has made an indelible imprint on the direct response marketing landscape through his contributions as both a successful entrepreneur and as a highly respected industry thought leader. We are proud to name Kevin as this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient,” says ERA President and CEO Julie Coons. “I’m so honored to receive this award and want to thank ERA for making it possible,” says Harrington. “I owe my success to all the inventors, producers, media agencies, investors, and the team that surrounds me day-to-day.” Harrington is widely acknowledged as a pioneer and principal architect of the infomercial industry. In 1984, he produced one of the industry’s first 30-minute infomercials. Since then, he has been involved with more than 500 product launches that resulted in sales of more than $4 billion worldwide, with 20 products that reached individual sales in excess of $100 million.
