This award is the highest honor a member can receive and celebrates the lifetime commitment the recipient has made to the Georgia Highway Contractors Association and Georgia’s road and bridge building industry. Mr. Goodloe Harper Yancey, III was born in Albany, Georgia in 1928, and attended Georgia Military College, The University of Georgia, and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. Stephenson, Don’s son-in-law, and continues his service today as Chairman of the Board. Goodloe has provided leadership to the Georgia Highway Contractors Association (GHCA) for over 30 years, and has rendered outstanding leadership for the highway construction industry at the local, state, and national level for many years including being past Chairman of Georgians for Better Transportation and he currently serves on the board of directors for the Shepherd Center. In large part due to his individual leadership efforts the Georgia Highway Contractors Association has grown into a very strong and successful trade association. Through this award, the Board of Directors of GHCA acknowledges the long-standing support of Goodloe Yancey to the Association and desires to express the sincere appreciation on behalf of all its members by naming Goodloe as the recipient of the Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
