Dear fellow ISTAT members, As the year winds down, it’s time for a little reﬂection. This time last year, the ISTAT Board was hunkered down, concerned about the continuing industry woes and thinking about contingency plans for the conference. “What if people don’t come?” As it turned out, we were all overwhelmed by the support we got from the membership. The U.S. and European conferences, as well as the Farnborough Airshow Reception set attendance records and were very well supported by our sponsors (the vast majority of whom are also long-time members). This validates both the relevance and importance of ISTAT to this industry. Even in the worst of industry downturns, members need to come together to ﬁnd creative solutions to the issues they face. ISTAT will continue to ﬁll that need and provide the forum for its members to connect. Like most organizations, the ISTAT Board of Directors has been shifting from a defensive posture to one of planning for the future. We are again embarking on initiatives to: 1. Increase airline participation. 2. Emphasize the “International” in ISTAT by expanding geographically. 3. Enhance our members’ experience at the conferences. I encourage you all to bookmark the ISTAT website (www.ISTAT.org) and frequently visit this newly revamped and enhanced site to stay apprised of all of the beneﬁts that ISTAT membership offers.
