ISTAT calendar 16th European Conference October 11-13, 2009 Valamar Lacroma Resort and Spa Dubrovnik, Croatia ISTAT news Airbus Brieﬁngs In May, Airbus invited a select group of aviation industry execs for two brieﬁngs sessions and factory tours of its Toulouse and Herndon facilities. ISTAT International Appraisers’ Program Administrative Director Bill Bath was one of the lucky invitees and provided Jetrader with the following account of both events. Toulouse, May 13-14, 2009: Nearly 30 invitees were given a comprehensive brieﬁng on a wide range of topics over a two day period. The Market Outlook, Managing the Backlog and Financing presentations drew many comments and discussion. The factory tour is always an impressive sight, and the lucky ones who got to ﬂy complete circuits in the A380 simulator earned their bragging rights, as did those who competed in the go-kart races of heats with a 30-minute ﬁnal race for the hotshots. Herndon, May 20, 2009: The Stateside, one-day brieﬁng was a slightly shorter version of the one held in Toulouse the previous week (no factory tour or after work go-kart races). There were 13 appraisers among the nineteen participants, and the ﬁve remaining participants were from the leasing and ﬁnance segments of the industry—the sixth was AVITAS’ Adam Pilarski, who does everything, in addition to appraisals. Barry Eccleston, president & CEO of Airbus North America, opened the proceedings followed by Mark Pearman-Wright on that pertinent subject for these times—Managing the Backlog and Market Outlook. Derek Davis presented three of the sessions with Hugh McTeague, Mike Bausor and Boris Sakrauski giving one each.
