So, what’s the verdict for the 2011 Paris Air Show? While the 747-8I, CSeries and ATR orders without doubt must have come as a great relief to their manufacturers, Airbus was the clear winner with reportedly more than $70 billion worth of business for a total of 730 aircraft (418 orders plus 312 LOIs), according to the organizers a new record for any commercial aircraft manufacturer at any air show ever. The lion’s share of this was taken by the A320neo family winning an unprecedented 669 commitments, reportedly worth more than $60 billion. For the average visitor, the weather unfortunately wasn’t fantastic and traffic was as bad as always (also thanks to the RER strike). In terms of new metal, Boeing provided the best “value for money” with the 747-8I, 747-8F, 777-200LR, 737-700 and of course the 787. Let’s hope that in 2012 there will be an even more interesting warm-up to the

Test equipment in Sukhoi Superjet.

Olympics in London in the form of a new Boeing narrowbody to bring back some excitement in the narrowbody game. Don’t forget ... Farnborough International Airshow has been moved up next year and will now take place 9-15 July 2012!
