David P. Sutton, Chairman ISTAT Foundation It was great seeing almost 600 attendees in Munich! Without a doubt, it was our best European Conference yet and a wonderful fall experience in a beautiful city! The ISTAT AirLink program now has a fully functioning matching website and is actively recruiting non-government organization (NGOs) and airlines to participate. The following airlines are members of AirLink: FedEx, Etihad, Hawaiian, Omni and UPS. Fully vetted NGO members include: Save the Children, Project Medishare, Red Cross, Solace for the Children, One World, Environment, The Fisherman, Free Wheelchair Mission, The Lamia Afghanistan Foundation and Direct Relief International. For the Pakistan ﬂooding disaster, our current NGO members are mostly

providing ﬁnancial aid, and we are ready to help with transportation if needed. AirLink continues to support Medishare weekly ﬂights for Haiti Relief through ﬁnancial donations. We provided $60,000 in the July-October period. Our ﬁrst print ad was published in Cargo Facts, Aviation Week and Etihad’s in-ﬂight magazine. Our main focus now is to continue recruiting airlines and NGOs so we can accomplish matches and conduct humanitarian missions during these non-crisis times and be fully ready to respond to the next largescale disaster. Any help you can provide with airlines in this regard would be most appreciated. Ty Prettyman and his team achieved our ﬁrst match through the new AirLink/Aidmatrix website system. UPS fully donated all transportation (ground and air, door-to-door) for medical oxygen concentrator equipment and supplies to be shipped to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, from Ohio. We also successfully matched the Batchelor Foundation’s generous $150,000 challenge grant for Haiti relief. Fellow Foundation Trustee Roland Moore and I recently visited the hospital in Port-Au-Prince that your Foundation and AirLink has been helping support.

We were extremely impressed with all that Dr. Barth Green and the University of Maimi Project Medishare have done in an incredibly short period of time since moving from their “M.A.S.H.-type tent city” facility at the Port-Au-Prince airport. In addition to seeing the newly restored in-town hospital facility, we met most of the amazing staff and volunteers who are caring for the many victims in Haiti. We visited the facility on a Saturday, which was relatively serene. During the week days, there are lines of hundreds of adults and children at the gate waiting for treatment. We toured Pour-Au-Prince to see what progress had been made. It was sad to see that after 10 months almost nothing has been done to clear all the rubble and devastation. According to news reports, less than 2 percent has been cleared, and very little aid is getting through to the people. We left wishing we could do more but were very honored to hear the thanks from the doctors, nurses and therapists for whom the Foundation has been able to provide assistance and funds. You should all be very proud of the positive difference we have been able to make.
