H2O-XPO The 2011 H2O-XPO, held October 4-6 in Louisville, Ky., featured great speakers, 80 educational programs and 1,000 exhibits. THE RURAL WATER FAMILY flooded into the Kentucky Exposition Center for three days of education, networking and the largest display of equipment in the industry. The H2O-XPO was the 35th annual National Rural Water Association conference and marked the second H2O-XPO of the association. Attendees visited the conference for the 80 educational programs, over 1,000 exhibits and approximately 30 acres of outdoor equipment exhibits. Equipment exhibits covered the full range of construction and utility machinery, and often included hands-on demonstrations. In addition to a great attendance, the H2O-XPO boasted an influential speaker slate, with Joe Liles, President of NRWA, wellknown humorist and motivational speaker Dr. Carl Hurly as well as Rural Utilities Service Administrator Jonathan Adelstein. Administrator Adelstein, once again, expressed his excitement about working with rural water. “This group is about as red, white and blue as it gets,” he said. “One thing I love about this job is you get to get out of Washington to see the work being done,” he said. The best of the rural water industry were honored at the National Rural Water Association’s Tribute to Excellence ceremony on Tuesday evening, October 4 with South Dakota Association of Rural Water Systems being named the State Association of the Year for 2011. New York Rural Water Association was recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Public Relations and Alabama Rural Water Association was presented the Outstanding Achievement in Technical Assistance. Outstanding Achievement in Legislative Initiatives went to New Mexico Rural Water Association. 40 • Fourth Quarter 2011 Another Successful http://www.naylornetwork.com/nrw-nxt3/
