ASSOCIATION NEWS TECHLINK CORRUGATORS: TAPPI HAS YOU COVERED TAPPI’S Best Practices in Corrugator Operations Course is a great way to “get up to speed” on how corrugator systems work—perfect training for individuals or teams that want to truly achieve peak performance. This expert-led course will be held February 16-19, 2010 at TAPPI Headquarters in Norcross, Georgia. Participants will learn how to run a corrugator system for higher productivity, better quality, and waste reduction. Both old and new equipment will be covered. Participants will develop an understanding of the critical properties of the raw materials that are vital to guarantee acceptable quality board. The course instructors will teach participants how the “Centerline Process” can be adopted in their plant and achieve a product that is consistent every day and on all shifts. The Best Practices in Corrugator Operations Course is taught by Rick Croker and John Troyke. Croker has more than 30 years’ experience in the corrugated industry; he is the Director of Technical Services for Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Troyke, a Technical Service Representative for G-P, specializes in corrugated troubleshooting and has been an instructor at TAPPI’s Corrugated Press Hands-on Workshop. PLUS: During 2010, TAPPI will continue its partnership with Clemson University’s Printing and Converting Research Center in Clemson, South Carolina. An Orientation to Corrugated Packaging course is currently scheduled for March 2-4, 2010, to take place at Clemson’s state-of-the-art research facilities. TAPPI RECEIVES ANSI ACCREDITATION TAPPI has received accreditation as a developer of American national standards through the Executive Standards Council of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). This means that the procedures used by TAPPI in connection with the development of American national standards, meet the essential requirements of ANSI—the U.S. representative in the International Standards Organization (ISO). As the administrator of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to Technical Committee 6 of the ISO, TAPPI can now take better advantage of its certified standards program when participating in developing international standards.
