These individuals take on the daunting task of developing innovative strategies to ensure that every one of their workers who arrive at the workplace ends up going home at night, safely.” These individuals whom Hall speaks of continue to adapt amid the fast paced and ever changing health and safety landscape. “The importance of health and safety for us has become a part of what we do,” says Linda Klassen, National Health and Safety Manager, The Brick Warehouse LP. “It’s something that we always focus on, and has changed the emphasis of our whole company. Safety is now recognized as a driver of productivity and employee engagement.” Speaking of the importance of RCC’s Safety Group, Klassen believes that collaboration on issues is critical to decreasing workplace injuries and lost time. “We learn from each other and we 14 | canadian retailer | spring 2011 | retailcouncil.org/cdnretailer http://www.retailcouncil.org/training/publications/canadianretailer/
