| STOREFRONT mobile retail As retailers become accustomed to the mobile application game, some are beginning to test the waters. And others, like Pizza Pizza, Black’s Photography and H&M, are diving right in, and getting it right – engaging with their customers, remaining present in the palm of their hands at all times, and making their products and services easy to view, use and purchase. PIZZA PIZZA APP Company: Pizza Pizza Compatibility: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch Ordering pizza has never been easier. At the flick of a finger, hungry customers can use this mobile application to streamline the ordering and delivery process of their favourite pie, and receive special promotional offers through the app as well. Available to use for both pick-up and delivery, users can access Pizza Pizza’s full menu of items and toppings on the app and customize their order to their liking and choose between a variety of payment options. In addition, the app allows customers to program their favorite orders and locations for future use. To encourage usage, the retailer also offers limited time promotions to customers who place an order through the app, with the opportunity to scratch and win directly on their mobile device for the chance to win a variety of menu items. BLACK’S PHOTO APP Company: Black’s Photography Compatibility: Android, Blackberry, iPhone Dedicated to making it easier than ever to access photos on the go, Telus has created the Black’s Photo application. The app, through special features, allows Black’s customers to learn, share, shop, organize, and create memorable photo projects anywhere at any time. In addition, users of the app are able to send photos directly from their smartphones to a printer at any Black’s location across Canada. The app is also enabled with a GPS feature which allows customers to locate and map out the Black’s store nearest to them at any given time. H&M APP Company: H&M Canada Compatibility: iPhone To create further brand awareness and drive foot traffic to its locations, H&M Canada has developed an application with an emphasis on its products. Although the apparel provider’s app does not currently enable customers to make purchases over their mobile device, it does feature the company’s full range of catalogue items in photo or video format, including sizing and pricing information, accessible anywhere at any time. Selected items can be added to a wish list and stored within the app for future reference. In addition, the app includes a store locator and offers users a whole range of special promotions and coupons that can be redeemed at any H&M location across the country. 10 | canadian retailer | summer 2011 |
