On November 9, The Honourable Steve Mahoney, Chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), was on hand alongside Diane J. Brisebois, President and CEO of RCC, and Matthew Hall, RCC's Senior Manager, Member Programs, to present the 29-member Safety Group with a cheque for $2.3million. This year's total brings the amount of money returned to retailers over the course of the past five years to nearly $8 million. “The work that RCC has done to help retailers reduce workplace injuries is amazing,” says Joanne Taylor, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Golf Town. “The association's collaboration with members and the assistance that they provide is immense. And, the sharing of best practices has created a sense of community among participants and interest in each others results and success. And, of course, the money that's returned to members as a result of the Safety Group is unprecedented.” In partnership with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), RCC designed the Safety Group Program to assist retailers in achieving their own health and safety objectives in an effort to reach the goal of zero injuries. If you'd like more information concerning ways to become involved in RCC's 2012 Safety Group Program, contact Matthew Hall, Senior Manager, Member Programs, at 1-888-373-8245 ext. 319, or via email at mhall@retailcouncil.org. RCC HAS RETAILERS’ BACK; RENEGOTIATING BETTER RATES FOR ITS MEMBERS R ecently, Retail Council of Canada (RCC) concluded an extensive renegotiation process with its payments partner Chase Paymentech to secure for its members exclusive new savings, taking the association’s member benefits program to the next level. As Andrew Siegwart, Senior Vice-President, Membership Services at RCC, points out, the benefits to members as a result of this enhanced cost savings program are immense. “The association is constantly looking for more ways to serve our members and to find better deals for them that will enable them to run their businesses more cost effectively,” he says. “Our membership team has gone above and beyond what might normally be done for members of any other association to protect their interests and provide them with the competitive advantage that's needed in today's retail environment.” The enhanced member benefits program represents yet another exciting and important chapter in the association's pledge to serve the interests of the retail industry, and are available only to members of RCC. “What we've negotiated is a retail-specific payment processing solution that is not only cost efficient, but is also one that entitles members to additional discounts on service and other fees associated with processing payments.
