NATION 5 3 4 1 2 1 2 3 DENVER, CO In August, the Rocky Mountain chapter hosted another CGMP course and had 22 members in attendance at the Sheraton Denver Tech Center hotel. All participants passed the exam! 4 5 WASHINGTON, DC ST. LOUIS, MO The National Capital chapter announced their new “Partnership Award” at their annual Honors & Awards event in June. The Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau received this award in recognition of their support of NATCAP and the SGMP mission through sponsorships and in-kind contributions. It was with a heavy heart for the national organization and our local members that the St. Louis Gateway chapter closed on June 30, 2012, after 22 years of partnership with SGMP. Our members there always ably represented the Society and our mission with their dedication and passion. All were given the opportunity to transfer their affiliation to another SGMP chapter. BOSTON, MA The New England chapter hosted its first CGMP course in September. It had been a key goal for the chapter—founded in 2011—to bring the certification course to their area in the first year since their chartering. LANSING, MI The Michigan chapter has achieved 11% membership growth in just the first two months of the current fiscal year. A net growth of 13 members since July 1st gives them 133 members and moves them up (from 8th) to being the 5th largest SGMP chapter. 28 GOVERNMENT CONNECTIONS | FALL 2012
