MEET THE STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL/ Meet Your Student Support Team! Happy fall from the Student Advisory Council! WE HOPE YOU are enjoying your 2010 – 2011 school year, and are as enthusiastic about it as we are! Meeting some of you at NeoCon East in Baltimore was a great experience, as was participating in portfolio reviews. We recently finished our third annual RealWorld DesignWeek, where students and professionals nationwide spent a week in respective job-shadowing roles. We hope you will make an opportunity to participate in this, and encourage you to share your experiences with us so we can continue make RealWorld DesignWeek more successful and meaningful for all of you. We are continuing our outreach to ASID Student Chapter Faculty Advisors who are not ASID members. Our observations are that student chapters with faculty advisors who are ASID members benefit significantly from this connection to the professional chapter. As a result, we are continuing to offer a $150 discount on their annual dues.If the faculty advisor to your ASID student chapter is not an ASID member, please encourage her/him to take advantage of this offer! The SAC is greatly anticipating some inspired words as we look to receive the submittals for the 2010 ASID Student Design Competition, and set out to begin creating the next for 2011, one of the highlights of serving on this Council. We are proud to also be judging the submittals of the 4 ACCESS fall | winter 2010 first annual ASID Educator Competition, which provides recognition for faculty who produce great work outside of the classroom. As always, the goal of the Student Advisor y Council and the ASID Student and Emerging Professional Programs Depar tment at headquarters is to provide you with the resources and tools you need to best position yourself on your chosen path in the interior design profession. We enjoy sharing this school year with you, and want to hear about your challenges, your successes, your questions and input! Have a great year!
