cruises where deposits in Euros are accepted. Any excess
deposit will be refunded at the end of the cruise in US $.
Please note that should you wish to change this excess
deposit to Euros, a foreign exchange fee will apply. Please
also keep in mind that it's always worth having a small
amount of local currency for immediate expenses on
arrival at your destination and for any purchases you
make at your ports of call. Traveller's cheques and most
major credit cards are accepted in the ports we visit.

IS THERE A DOCTOR ON BOARD?

A doctor and nurse are on each ship to provide medical
care and services at customary charges. Please note that
the medical facilities are designed to provide basic
medical care and guests may have to be evacuated at
their own expense in the event of serious illness. Please
be aware that there is no dentist on board. NCL does not
have the equipment on board to assist guests with any
type of dialysis treatment. Please ensure you have the
right travel insurance coverage. NCL has its own charging
system similar to shoreside facilities in the U.S. and we do
follow standard medical care, so please ensure you have
appropriate travel insurance.

CAN I SMOKE ON BOARD?

We want you to be comfortable on board, so staterooms and
public areas throughout all our ships are smoke-free. If you
smoke cigarettes, you can do so in the Casino (players only)
or in the Cigar Bar (where available). If you prefer pipes or
cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated
smoking lounge. Also, you can smoke cigarettes, pipes and
cigars in outdoor public guest spaces and open decks where
designated by the appropriate signage. Please be aware that
e-cigarettes cannot be used in public areas where there is a
no smoking policy in force. Smoking inside your stateroom or
on your balcony will result in a US $ 250 cleaning charge
added to your onboard account. Please note that some
countries have imposed a ban on e-cigarettes.

WHAT ABOUT ALCOHOL
CONSUMPTION AND WINE
CORKAGE?

On itineraries that include a port in the United States of
America, Canada or China, guests must be 21 years of
age or older to purchase or consume alcohol (terms and
conditions may vary on alcoholic beverage packages,
please check at the time of booking). On all other
itineraries this regulation applies to guests aged 18 or
above with the exception of guests who are citizens of
the United States of America, Canada or China.
On cruises that include a port in the United States of
America, Canada or China but with the exception of
Alaska and Hawai'i itineraries, NCL permits young
adults between 18 and 20 years of age to purchase and
personally consume wine and beer only while on board
and with the consent of an accompanying parent.
Authorisation will be given only when the accompanying
parent completes the Young Adult Alcoholic Beverage
Waiver form. This form can be obtained and completed
at the Guest Services Desk on embarkation.
All guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board
our ships. If you purchase any alcohol at one of our ports
of call or in our onboard shops, we will safely store your
purchase(s) and on the final night of the cruise it will be
available for pickup in a designated area. Please note
that for wine and champagne brought on board by you,
a corkage fee will apply if consumed on board.
NCL encourages the responsible use of alcohol and
accordingly reserves the right to permanently or
temporarily revoke the drinking privileges of any guest
who violates NCL's Guest Code of Conduct or who is
deemed a danger to himself, herself or others by vessel
management. Continued abuse of alcohol while sailing
and/or violation of NCL's alcohol policy may result in
immediate disembarkation.

HOW DO I GET ASHORE?

In most ports your ship docks right alongside the quay
and you simply walk ashore. At a few ports, we drop

anchor at sea and you go ashore in the ship's small
boats - called tenders - which offer a complimentary
shuttle service to and from the port. Please note that if
you are not booked on one of our shore excursions,
where we guarantee a convenient pickup and drop-off right
at the pier, reaching the closest city centre may involve
taking local public transport or a non-complimentary
shuttle service.

WILL I NEED AN ELECTRICAL
ADAPTER?

The voltage on board is 110 volts. For European
appliances a converter is needed (U.S. norm). Hairdryers
are provided in all staterooms and suites. Irons and
ironing boards can be requested through housekeeping or
the Guest Services Desk.

WHAT IF I NEED TO STAY IN TOUCH
WHILE I'M AWAY?

All our ships are equipped with 24-hour Internet Cafés. In
addition, in most areas throughout the ship you can connect
to our WiFi network on your own devices (charges apply).
Telephone and fax services are available at applicable
ship-to-shore rates (see ncl.com/stay-in-touch for
further details).
You can also stay connected on the high seas using your
own compatible mobile phone. International roaming
charges are billed to your home account. Check with
your service provider before travelling. Final rates are
determined by your service provider and not NCL.

HOW ABOUT SAFETY AND SECURITY?

NCL adheres to the highest standard of shipbuilding in
the world. All our ships meet the most current SOLAS
specifications. Our ships also pass annual government
safety and sanitation inspections. On the first day of
your cruise, you will be asked to take part in an
obligatory lifeboat drill, where you will learn what to do
in case of an emergency. In such an event, you will be
asked to go to your assigned lifeboat (detailed

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE LAST DAY
OF MY CRUISE?

If you have booked Cruise Only, you will proceed through
customs and immigration and continue with your
independent arrangements. Please ensure that you have
arranged for a suitable flight time taking into consideration
customs and immigration procedures and the transfer time
to the airport. In some ports you can take advantage of our
'Easy Walk-Off' option. This means you can leave the ship
as soon as it is cleared by local authorities, carrying all your
luggage off the vessel yourself. If you have a Fly-Cruise
booking, we'll transfer you from the ship to the airport.
For Fly-Cruise packages from the U.S., after your cruise we'll
transfer you from your ship to the airport for your flight to the
UK. Depending on your flight time, we can arrange a shore
excursion for you (available at a supplement).
On European Fly-Cruises we'll transfer you directly from
the ship to the airport. But if you have a later flight, instead
of waiting at the airport, why not take one of our great
shore excursions and see more of the local city and
attractions?

WHAT ABOUT GRATUITIES?
(TIPS MADE EASY)

Guests are not obliged to offer gratuities; however all
our staff are permitted to accept cash gratuities
entirely at the discretion of our guests who wish to
acknowledge exceptional service.
A discretionary service charge is automatically added
to your shipboard account for all staterooms (for
guests three years and older). All ships except
Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun (Port Canaveral
sailings only) charge US$ 15 per guest per day for
staterooms up to and including Mini-Suites. For
Suites, The Haven and Concierge staterooms
(Norwegian Joy), the service charge will be US$ 18
per guest per day. * This charge will be shared among
staff members, including behind-the scenes staff who
provide services that enhance your overall cruise
experience.
These service charges can be paid in advance of your
cruise. If you have any concerns contact our on-board
Guest Services Desk right away, so we can address
any issues. If you prepaid your service charge, you
must apply for a refund, if applicable, after you return
home by writing to our Guest Relations department.
Certain staff positions provide service to individual
guests and don't benefit from the overall service
charge. We encourage those guests to acknowledge
good service from these positions with appropriate
gratuities. Additionally, there is a 20% gratuity and spa
service charge added for all spa and salon services, a
20% gratuity and beverage service charge added for
all beverage purchases and a 20% gratuity and
speciality service charge added to all speciality
restaurant dining and entertainment-based dining.
