As a custom manufacturer, Ashley Lighting has released more than 60 new items so far in 2014, with more on the way. In
addition, it offers many brand program products and continues to work with many of the top hotel brands, including Hampton
Inn, Marriott, and Best Western, developing new programs to be released later this year.
The company is also a new member of MindClick's Global Sustainability Index program, which helps Ashley to identify and
measure its sustainability initiatives. Domestically and overseas, the company strives to reduce energy demands and waste in
all areas of its operations. "Ashley Lighting's design and R&D departments are committed to researching and developing new
recyclable product offerings," says Ron Smith, Ashley Lighting's vice president. "We continue to expand our product design and
development, focusing on utilizing LEDs and Title 24 compliancy." The company has recently expanded its overseas design and sourcing team to better
meet market demand and trends.
NEWH Regional Tradeshows are vital to Ashley Lighting's success, providing the opportunity to strengthen existing relationships and create new
ones within the hospitality industry. "By supporting organizations like NEWH, we can play a part in the education and development of future members
of the hospitality design community," Smith says.

This year has been a big one for Durkan with the launch of its new logo and brand identity. This past
May at HD Expo, the company also debuted its 2014 Pastiche collection, which makes full use of Durkan's
revolutionary technologies to produce its hospitality carpets. And coming up is the launch of Definity, a
design technology that rivals the look and resilience of Axminster but at a lower cost to customers than a
traditional cut and loop manufacturing method.
Sustainability is also top of mind for Durkan, which offers several sustainable carpet fibers and backing types, and uses Declare labels and HPDs
and EPDs so that ingredients used in the manufacturing process are apparent. "As part of Mohawk Group, Durkan believes in making our commitment
to sustainability both measurable and transparent," says Mark Page, Durkan's senior director of color and design.
Durkan views NEWH as a keystone of hospitality interior design education and placement-supporting and helping to grow new talent, as
ambassadors to the industry, and holding to a clean set of standards and moral values. As a corporate sponsor, the company has a keen awareness
of the part it must play in the future of the industry, not just financially, but with time and attentiveness. "We are focused on continuing to recover from
a challenging economic downturn by playing our part in helping those institutions dedicated to the health and well-being of those in and around our
industry," says Page.

Justice Design Group's (JDG) newest collection, released this June, is a collaboration with 3form, a "respected
manufacturer of sustainable building materials," says Adrianna Arambula, JDG's creative director. The collection
offers six 3form shade finishes across a variety of JDG's wall sconces, flush-mounts, and semi-flush and pendant
bowls.
With this collection as well as a new "biggest and best yet" CHOICES catalogue available, JDG continues to focus
on lighting solutions, especially updated and improved LED options. "We're currently developing a dedicated LED
fi xture family in the hopes of continuing to offer decorative LED solutions for every application," Arambula says.
NEWH's support as a resource for the industry is an important element of the company's success. "Keeping members actively engaged in
professional and business development, intra-industry networking, and promoting the ongoing education of hospitality standards is vital to keeping
this industry alive and current," she says.

2013 was a year of growth for the flooring company, and 2014 has seen a continuation of that trend.
Karndean Designflooring boosted its presence in the retail space with the introduction of its Platinum
program and is also strengthening its infrastructure by increasing sales support, staff members, and
adding to its CEU program.
But the company has gone even farther than that. "Karndean invited professionals from various sectors of the flooring industry to discuss and learn
from one another ways that we can all strengthen our designs and programs," says Emil Mellow, vice president of marketing. Guests also received a
sneak peek at Karndean's two new collections. Adds Mellow: "As design is such an integral part of who we are, it was important to connect with these
professionals to strengthen our position at the fore of the marketplace."
The company has facilities in Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Las Vegas, creating a vast network enhanced by its NEWH membership. "Communication is
a vital element to maintaining a strong relationship with any group, and NEWH is the key path to connecting Karndean and the NEWH membership,"
Mellow says.
