Fabric Innovations' Deborah Herman,
doesn't just work hospitality, she lives it

W

hen immersed in the everyday tasks of any job, it's easy
to forget the bigger picture-to forget why you're in the
business you're in, why it makes you happy or doesn't,
what difference your job makes to the world.
Not if you're Deborah Herman.
President of hospitality supply company, Fabric Innovations,
Herman thinks about it all the time. She's endlessly fascinated
by the influence that her industry has on the global economy.
"Travel and tourism run the world," she says. "We're one of the
few truly global industries. I don't think people understand how
big that is."
Herman grew up in the industry working in bedding, fi rst
for her father, and at 19, was bit by the bug that never let go. The
hospitality industry is a sort of extended family for Herman,
who says that in this industry, there is only three degrees of
separation between everyone. But most important to Herman is
that she loves what she does just as much today as she did when
