The chapter's Dine and Design event was held in June at the Diving
Horse and the Princeton in Avalon, New Jersey. Lee Brotsker of LB
Designs described the Princeton's design details, and the group
enjoyed dinner and a tour of the Diving Horse, led by the restaurant's
manager, who described the repurposed design elements-from a
high school gym door to former hotel heater grates.

United Kingdom

After several years supporting the Royal College of Art, the chapter chose to offer scholarships to students in the Architecture
and Interior Design course at Ravensbourne college in London beginning this year. The chapter selected the school for
several reasons, including that 92 percent of its students come from state-run schools and 30 percent are from minority
ethnic backgrounds. Applicants are second-year degree students who have completed a hospitality project as part of their
curriculum. The scholarships will help fund their third year of study toward a degree. Proceeds from an August networking
and social event hosted at UBM headquarters went to the Ravensbourne scholarship fund. The event featured a presentation
by Jacu Strauss, lead designer with Tom Dixon's Design Research Studio, who designed the new Mondrian London at Sea
Containers hotel. Strauss shared details of the project and answered questions from the group.

The group's summer Sundowner took place in August at Bogart's, a casual dining restaurant designed by locally based
Inside Design Studio, featuring a West Coast design with wood detailing, contemporary lines, and a mosaic tiled floor.
Thanks to gold sponsor Fontile and silver sponsor Allermuir. Angela Cameron Fine Art supplied the newly launched Art in a
Box and two gift certificate door prizes.
