Spring saw the successful staging of the 24th annual Hospitality Design Exposition and Conference (HD
Expo), presented by Hospitality Design in Las Vegas, with a 10 percent increase in attendance over 2014. HD
is also preparing to launch a new venture next spring focused on mid-level buyers looking to select products and suppliers. "Now you can engage with
the Hospitality Design Group during whatever career stage you are in and in the way you would like," says Cece Loft, marketing director for the Hospitality
Design Group. "You can travel to HD Expo for a week of events and inspiration, you can spend two hours at an HD CitySCENE in a city you enjoy, and the HD
Awards, Platinum Circle Awards Gala, HD Summit, and NextGen Forum events are the glue that hold it all together."
At this year's Platinum Circle Awards Gala, held November 10th in New York, HD will recognize Gary Dollens, Hyatt Hotels; Kemper Hyers, Starwood
Capital Group; Nobu Matsuhisa, Nobu Hospitality; and this year's Visionary honoree, HBA. HD knows that the people are what make the industry, which is
what makes its partnership with NEWH so valuable. "NEWH serves hospitality with a stellar scholarship program, career mentoring, and networking and
relationship building events," says Loft. "It cares about our industry and its people, and we are behind it all the way."

OW Hospitality (OWH) launched two new collections this year at HD Expo-New Neo and Lost & Found by design
powerhouse Roger Thomas, with whom it had previously collaborated on Custom Tailored, introduced last year.
Both new collections were well-received at the show, and the company is looking forward to launching them to the
European market at Sleep later this year. OWH has also been involved in many exciting projects, notably the Grand
Bohemian Orlando-a Marriott Autograph Collection property where it was selected to supply all the carpet for
the ballrooms, pre-function areas and meeting spaces-and in the Hilton Amsterdam Schiphol Hotel, where it provided 80 percent wool and 20 percent
nylon Axminster carpet for the guestrooms, corridors, and public areas.
This year OWH has also launched an area rug program to better serve its customers and remain in line with shifting business trends. "With the
growing demand for hard surface flooring products in the hospitality sector, we identified the need to diversify, and handtufted rugs were a very relevant
extension of our product offerings," says Michael Riley, the company's CEO and managing director.
Also important to help OWH remain relevant and increase its profile is its partnership with NEWH. "More importantly," Riley says, "it is hugely
supportive of young designers and provides the bridge between education and business through the award of scholarships. As a company continually
looking for new, fresh design talent, it makes good business sense for OW Hospitality to align ourselves with NEWH.

This year, Sem Fim introduced its Vintage Modern collection of wood finishes-a process by which it antiques modern finishes
using special distressing techniques. In addition, a recent hospitality project is a standout: Marriott City Center in Charlotte,
where the company worked with Marriott purchasing to deliver vanity packages. Recognizing that one of its biggest challenges
is keeping up with demand without going overboard on resources, "it is about adding just enough highly qualified staff so
that we continue to offer extraordinary personal service, while remaining faithful to our commitment to low overheard and low
margins," explains Sem Fim's Ani Ruiz Chang.
As a direct investment into the industry and its own success, "it is of utmost importance for our company to continue to
support NEWH," Ann says. Adds Jose A. Chang: "As a manufacturer, NEWH gives us the ability to showcase our products in a
very targeted way through their regional tradeshows, and also provides great opportunities for new manufacturers to be introduced to the industry. This
coming year, we are most looking forward to getting to know as many people as possible in this great industry and deepening the existing relationships;
but mostly we are excited about giving back in a greater way through sponsorships and fundraisers."

Design leadership and sustainable efforts remain at the heart of Shaw Hospitality Group. Committed
to partnering with its customers to create unique flooring experiences, Shaw is guided by a Cradle to
Cradle philosophy, designing products that are 100 percent recyclable and have been evaluated to
assess their positive impact to both people and the environment. To that end, Shaw Industries is also excited to announce the operation of its new carpet
reclamation facility, Evergreen Ringgold, which will recycle nylon and polyester fibers. The $20 million investment illustrates the company's continued
commitment to converting what has been historically seen as waste into a resource.
Having rejoined NEWH as a corporate partner in 2014, Shaw Hospitality recognizes the organization as a platform to present its total hospitality
flooring solutions throughout the U.S. "Shaw Hospitality Group was excited to rejoin NEWH because it is the premier hospitality network that allows us
to learn from our customers about the needs of the industry," says director of hospitality and retail Robert Stuckey. "The networking events at NEWH are
some of the best in the entire industry, and we feel we are able to truly connect with our customers at these events."
