Chapter Highlights
Houston

On June 23rd, the chapter sponsored a tour of the new University of Houston

TDECU football stadium, which broke ground on February 2013 and hosted
its first game in August 2014. Houston-based Page Southerland Page and DLR
Group are the architects of record, and Gensler Houston assisted with many of the FF&E
selections, especially in the club lounge and suites. Thanks to the sponsors: Kaiser Tile,
Dansbyland, and American Standard.
The 30 attendees began the evening with networking and cocktails in the
12,400-square-foot, multipurpose club lounge overlooking the field. Kellie Scruggs of
Gensler Houston discussed the project and attendees toured the stadium including suites,
the press box, the home locker room, and even the field.

5. Design details in the suites

SCHOLARSHIP DINNER
A combined Scholarship Dinner and Life of Design event is the
perfect way to celebrate our FIFTH year for the NEWH Dallas
Chapter's most cherished fundraising events. Our keynote
speakers will be two of our top scholarship recipients this year
during the dinner. Immediately following the dinner, our design
competition begins. Design teams consisting of top firm
designers are paired with manufacturers and are given a base
design element. The manufacturers and designers work
together to create a unique piece that is auctioned off during
our exciting, high energy event of the year for NEWH Dallas. It
is truly celebrating creativity and collaboration while all for a
good cause. The Life of Design event in the past has helped
to distribute over $30,000 in scholarship funds and we look
forward to surpassing that this year.
