Richloom Contract has been keeping busy with the recent introduction of several new products, including
Shadow-a collection of 100 percent blackout fabrics ranging from yarn-dye woven jacquards, piece dye
solids, and prints; the Kelly Hoppen collection, a line of fabrics for window, bedding, and upholstery, as
well as finished bedding, decorative pillows, and bed throws, in collaboration with globally renowned designer Kelly Hoppen; and Soft Focus, a collection of
luxurious chenille jacquards with the look and feel of velvet in an assortment of colors from vibrant to neutral hues.
But the company's not stopping there. "With abundant business activity in the hospitality industry, Richloom Contract is planning the largest line to
be introduced in 2015," says John Ringer, vice president of sales and marketing. "We'll have multiple new books for drapery and upholstery, as well as a
large new offering for the Kelly Hoppen collection."
NEWH provides Richloom a platform for interaction with the industry, important to the company in order "to support new designers and up-andcoming talent," Ringer says, "and to support the growth of the hospitality industry."
The most important recent product introduced by Shelby Williams is its new website:
www.shelbywilliams.com. The company began the process nine months ago, collaborating with
Gettys to research what designers care about most. "There were so many misperceptions about how
people used a website and what they really thought was important," explains Jordan McInturf, Shelby Williams' vice president of sales. "The effort paid
off with a website that is interactive and easy to navigate."
The new site is responsive, operating seamlessly between computer, tablet, or phone; has a powerful search functionality, helping to speed research;
and offers registered users the ability to order finish samples and track shipments online.
As a founding partner of NEWH, the company realizes the importance of being more than just an industry or market. "Regional meetings, local chapters,
and even the Leadership Conference give us an ability to stay connected. From the very beginning, NEWH has supported scholarships and had a genuine
interest in helping the next generation find a home in our community," McInturf adds. "Those are core values that Shelby Williams continues to share."
Vaughan Benz is proud of its recent installations, including the renovation of 125 two-bay high roller suites at the
Bellagio in Las Vegas; an ongoing multi-year renovation of the guestrooms of the New York Hilton; full renovations of
three Waldorf Astoria hotels; and the public area furniture in Virgin Hotel Chicago.
In addition, the company is expanding marketing in the Middle East in anticipation of the 2020 World Expo in
Dubai and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, as well as growing manufacturing in Latin America and Indonesia,
where it's also looking forward to building a quality control team this year. "We're grateful that the Great Recession is
finally behind us and look forward to contributing to many fun, exciting, and challenging projects," says company president David Benz.
NEWH is "the premier networking organization for our industry that supports future members through its impressive scholarship program, and we are
proud to support [it]," Benz says. "It allows the wonderful members of our industry to get to know one another in the cities where hotels are designed."
Walters recently celebrated its 80th year as a now-fourth generation single-family business and is very
excited about its new Roger Thomas collection, which was formally launched in New York at BDNY. Though
lead times and price have become very competitive, the company has added extra project managers to
help speed up lead time with faster approval time for drawings, leading to a quicker manufacturing time. "2014 was fantastic and we saw considerable
growth," says company president Ken Schindler. "We believe we are primed for that trend to continue in 2015 and beyond."
Walters has found NEWH to be an integral part of hospitality, which is what makes its partnership with the organization so valuable. "Without new
talent coming into the industry on a regular basis we all tend to get stale, so it's great to always have that pipeline of fresh perspective on the horizon,"
Schindler says.
