NEWH's New
Education Initiative
BrandED, a new NEWH
education initiative was
recently introduced by
the Sunshine chapter.
The event, which took
place at the Alfond
Inn in Winter Park,
Florida, hosted several
representatives from
InterContinental Hotels
Stephen Delorenza, Design
Group as inaugural
Immersion; Trisha Poole,
guest lecturers.
Design Poole; and Eric
Nicolas, IHG America
BrandED was
created specifically for
NEWH members to
assist them in understanding the strategic thinking behind
the development of well-known hotel brands-from brand
standards and brand identity and personality to culture.
The goals of these sessions is to eliminate brand confusion
as well as to give members an opportunity to personally
visit with key members from these hotel giants.
The BrandED learning initiative will travel to different
chapters to ensure that members across the country will
have the opportunity to learn firsthand about leading
global brands as well as provide an opportunity to meet
key decision-makers within these companies.

NEWH 2017 Leadership
Conference Introduces
Speaker Lineup

The 2017 NEWH Leadership Conference, to be held
on February 9-11th in Denver, aims to expand the
knowledge base of attendees and sponsors alike,
offering participants the opportunity to hear from
experts and luminaries from both inside and outside the
hospitality industry.
The 2017 conference's theme is Climb On, which is
fitting, considering keynote speaker Ann Bancroft is one
of the world's pre-eminent polar explorers as well as
an educator and philanthropist. Other speakers include:
Marc Landsberg, founder of SocialDeviant, a social media
agency dedicated to creating value for brands in a socially
connected world; and Kai Kight, a classical violinist and
innovative composer who has performed at the White
House and the Great Wall of China. For more information

NEWH Names Jane Skeeter as 2016 ICON of
Industry Recipient
The NEWH ICON of Industry, awarded
this year to UltraGlas founder and CEO
Jane Skeeter, celebrates leaders of the
manufacturing side of hospitality who
have impacted the industry through their
innovative work, consistently dedicated
their time and efforts to community or
industry outreach through education and/
or corporate giving, and have been doing
business in hospitality for more than 30 years.
"I am honored and thrilled to be among the remarkable past
NEWH ICONs of Industry. I'm inspired by their accomplishments

and the organization's incredible growth, and I'm looking forward
to building on their strong foundation of support for educational
and career opportunities," says Skeeter, who has grown UltraGlas
into a leading manufacturer of designed architectural and high
performance glass and glass tile.
