GETTING TO KNOW

Doehner
How did you become involved in NEWH?

A colleague suggested NEWH as a way to establish a network within the local hospitality
market. At the time, there was a board position open and I volunteered to take on the role
of steering committee chair. It was a wonderful experience, allowing me the opportunity to
build business relationships while donating time to a worthwhile organization.

What has NEWH done for you, both personally and professionally?

NEWH has opened up many doors for me. Professionally, the friendships I've developed
with designers have introduced me to projects I otherwise wouldn't have had access to.
I've also been invited by local colleges with hospitality or design programs to speak on
behalf of NEWH. Those experiences have been personally enriching as the enthusiasm
and perspective of the students is energizing.

In your NEWH role, what do you have planned for 2017?

Executive advisor, NEWH
New England region, and sales
executive, Kohler Company

We are looking forward to our fifth annual Sunset Cruise on Boston Harbor in September.
Every year, the cruise sells out faster. It has become our must-attend event on the NEWH
calendar!

Trend or movement you are paying attention to in the industry?

Brass is back. We are seeing a huge uptick in polished brass in hotel specifications. We are
continuing to see a demand for matte black, as well. As for fixtures, standalone showers are
still dominating the bathing space in both new construction and remodels.

When you aren't working or at an NEWH event, where can we find you?

My favorite escape is to our island home on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. It's a
beautiful and peaceful departure from the congestion of the city. ❙❘❚
