CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS

Arizona
In March, the Arizona chapter awarded Anthony
Anderson from the Culinary Program at the
Art Institute of Phoenix a $1,500 scholarship at
the Wine and Dine Under the Stars Fundraising
event. In April, the chapter toured the FOUND:RE
Phoenix Hotel and enjoyed a Sundowner at its
restaurant, Match Cuisine and Cocktails, guided
by GM Vittal Calamur and interior designers from
Studio 4 Design. On May 4, the Las Vegas and
Arizona chapters had a joint HD Sundowner at Las
Vegas' Hidden Gem: 1923 Bourbon Bar - A Modern
Speakeasy. And on June 29, the chapter's first ever
Supper Club event celebrated local restaurants and
their creative design teams, presented in part by
3rd Story Architects and Interiors Designers at the
Mission in Kierland Commons in Scottsdale.

North Central
The North Central chapter held a networking
event in February for students resulting in 50
new student applications. The event included
informal portfolio reviews by hospitality design
professionals and a keynote speaker.

Toronto
The Toronto chapter's 1 to 1 event in March, sponsored by Durkan, was held
at the award-winning boutique Indian restaurant the Maharaja. Hemen Modi,
principal of design at TWG (who was awarded NEWH Top ID this year), spoke
to the guests about the design concept and execution of the restaurant. The
chapter also held a #TrendingToronto networking event at the redesigned
Marriott Courtyard hotel in the heart of downtown Toronto, sponsored by
Renwil and Houston Construction Limited. The evening featured room tours,
an interactive graffiti wall, and a presentation on current design trends by Alem
Sklar, artist and creative director at Renwil.
