CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS

Vancouver Region
NEWH Vancouver hosted its The Annual event at the
Parq Vancouver, with more than 300 attendees who
toured the resort's public spaces and guestrooms of the
property's two hotels-the JW Marriott and the Douglas,
an Autograph Collection Hotel-and enjoyed desserts

provided by sponsor ISA International. The event also
celebrated 2017 TopID honorees CHIL Design, Hager
Design International, and SSDG. The most special moment
of the evening was the steering committee's presentation
of a $2,500 scholarship to a deserving student. This year's
winner was Catherine Yuen of British Columbia Institute
of Technology. The event would not have been possible
without Gold sponsors: Ames Tile & Stone, BERMANFALK,
CDm2 Lightworks, Lightheaded Lighting, Ocean Pacific,
SLS/Light Resource, Symmons, Ulster, Vibe Hospitality,
and Westport; Silver sponsors: Brintons, Durkan, Global,

Heritage Hospitality, Louis Interiors, Milliken, Moen,
Mohawk Group, OW Hospitality, Royal Thai, Skypad, and
Torlys. The event capped an incredible year that also included a Student Roundtable event, a PingPong event, trivia night, and a doggie-mingler patio sundowner event.

Memphis/
Mid-South Region
Last year Memphis/Mid-South officially kicked off its new
regional group. Early in 2017, a group of interior designers
and vendors formed a steering committee to help develop
the group. In November, the region held an official kick-off
event to introduce NEWH to the Memphis area. It was a free
event with more than 40 attendees and approximately 25 new
members joining. Thank you to the sponsors: JC & Company,
Scott Fabrics, Eaton Custom Seating, and the Snap sponsor,
Ashley Lighting. Steering committee chair Jana Johnson says:
"Our main goal is to simply strengthen the community that
already exists. We look forward to 2018 as we continue to build
relationships between our owners, designers, and vendors." The
region plans to work closely with the Kemmons Wilson School
of Hospitality at the University of Memphis as well as other
universities in the area.
