CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS

Cincinnati Region
An evening of bourbon and fun was had at the regional group's
Spring Fling event. The festivities were held at the FRCH Nelson
office in downtown Cincinnati. Vendors created concoctions,
including the winning drink, Blackberry Bourbon Bubbly, by
Leonardo Luciano of P/Kaufmann Contract. Second place
was the Watermelon Smash by Bonny Rienecke and Jennifer
Okunski-Geyer of Koroseal, and third place went to the Unicorn
Smash by Kristin Owens, Standard Textiles.

Rocky Mountain
The chapter hosted its first tour and networking event of the year, featuring Improper City
in Denver. The event was a guided tour by project architect Amy Kiel and interior designer
Lauren Deffner of OZ Architecture. The space inhabits an old warehouse and features a bar
with more than 36 beers on tap, a coffee shop, and food truck park complete with firepits
and cornhole.
The chapter's 2019 Haute Seat committee crafted a new theme for this year's event: Artist
Edition. Hosted at Pental Surfaces, designers were paired up with manufactures and
given one hour to create a work of art using only the sponsoring manufacturers' materials,
ranging from tile to fabric to thread. Team Kellex took first place, Best Use of Materials went
to Concept Surfaces, and People's Choice went to Burch Fabrics. A special thank you to
the judges, Lisa DeCare, Michelle Bates, and artist Noel Phares. In addition to the design
competition, the event featured live music by DJ Jesse
Dzierzanowski (OZ Architecture), a selfie booth, and
a prize giveaway thanks to Aceray, Brilliant Imports,
Havenly, Metropolitan Flooring, Nourison, and Springhill
Suites. This year's Haute Seat awarded $15,000 to
deserving scholarship winners. There were a recordbreaking number of applicants from the area, and the
selected winners were from three different schools and
majors within the hospitality industry. Rocky Mountain is
very proud of these students. Congratulations Quincy Gill,
Monique Bindel, and Justine Lane!
