Teri
Schell
What have you found to be most valuable about your NEWH involvement, both
personally and professionally?

There are so many valuable benefits to NEWH membership and involvement. If I had to
select one it would be the opportunity to network and meet so many talented people.
Networking and social events provide the chance to meet designers and other professionals
in the community on a personal level. That has led to professional opportunities in quite a
few cases, and I've also been fortunate to meet people who are now very special friends.

Why do you recommend people get involved with NEWH?

Whether you're new to the industry or a veteran, NEWH provides opportunities to meet
people in our industry. In my opinion there is no easier way to get to know who's who and
who is doing what.

What is your proudest recent NEWH accomplishment?

Our region awarded our first TopID awards to two local firms. We are proud of the talented
pool of design firms in South Carolina, and to be able to spotlight our winners on an
international level was so incredibly gratifying.

What are you most looking forward to?

With NEWH, the continuation of our 2019 schedule of events, our first FUNdraiser, first
scholarship award, and TopID winner(s). Personally, summer, a few races, and time with
my family.

What would people be interested to know about your company?

We are truly a family company started by my parents about 38 years ago. Between myself,
my husband, brother-in-law, nephew, and one "adopted" sister, we cover the Carolinas
and southern Virginia. As a family business, we work together for the success of each
of us as well as the whole group. Over the last 15 years, we have finely tuned the list of
manufacturers we represent to include the absolute best companies in the industry.

Where do you find inspirations, both inside and outside the industry?

Nature and travel. I have a phone filled with pictures taken when traveling. They range from
a sunset shot taken on the side of the highway to colorful racks of fabric in a store. I love
shapes, color, and shadow. I'm in blissful awe of the world that surrounds us.

When you aren't working or at an NEWH event, where can we find you?

I travel so much for business that I tend to be a homebody when I have free time. I enjoy
leisure time with my husband, Dave, and dog (Corey the wonder pup) and our kids and
grandkids. I love reading, running, working in my yard, camping, and anything
at the beach. ❙❘❚
