What have you found to be most valuable about your NEWH involvement, both personally
and professionally?
The people are the most valuable part of NEWH. Personally, my membership has created a network
of friendships that have enriched my life and opened doors beyond my professional career. The most
memorable and rewarding experience was when I served as programming director for the DC chapter.
I am most proud of our program announcing the scholarship winners. It was a well-received event that
delivered an evening of networking, inspiration, and celebration. This role afforded me the opportunity to
have a closer relationship with fellow manufacturers and designers in the DC metro area.

I recommend [people] get involved with NEWH to continue their personal and professional development.
Join your chapter board and volunteer to contribute on committees. I learned so much more by being an
active member of NEWH. The more I supported and became involved, the greater the rewards. It is an
incredible feeling to be connected to a platform that is laser-focused on education, scholarships, sharing
industry news, trends, and member accomplishments. NEWH has led the way during the pandemic by
offering many lifelines to all who were shut in and let all hospitality friends know that they were not alone.

What is your proudest recent NEWH accomplishment?
The opportunity to work with the Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity committee. Supporting its efforts to
reach out to groups who have encountered unique challenges in entering the hospitality industry is a
source of great pride to me. Furthermore, I am honored to continue to be part of an organization that
works to shine a light on education by highlighting our diverse scholarship winners, who bring fresh
perspective and creativity.

What would people be interested to know about your company?
Distinction Hospitality (DH) is young in years, but our team consists of some of the most experienced
talent in the furniture hospitality industry. Stan Sapp, who started the company, has over 35 years in
furniture manufacturing. He has developed and maintained a strong supply chain to execute and deliver
quality and on-time furniture. DH is a close-knit group, and we all are passionate about meeting or
exceeding the expectations of our clients.

Where do you find inspiration?
Inspiration for me is spending time in a gallery or museum. My background is in fine art; I spent two years
at the Smithsonian Institution, where I was immersed in brilliant works of art. Every day was filled with
aspects of history, originality, and presentation. I love architecture, nature, and photography and all serve
as creative inspiration. Instagram is currently a great source of creativity and ingenuity. I often look to
industry publications and magazines for ideas and motivation. I also love walking the tradeshows that
showcase and present excellence in design. \[]
