This was an important day for my family, so I decided not to share what I found. It didn't make sense to worry anyone else until I knew for sure there was something to worry about. The following week I scheduled an appointment with my gynecologist, and saw a nurse practitioner in the group. This would be the start of weeks of many tests and appointments to get to a final diagnosis. First things first, get a diagnostic mammogram. If a woman is experiencing some symptoms of breast cancer a diagnostic mammogram is required. It is reviewed immediately. I then had a breast ultrasound which led to an immediate indication of " Yes, you have cancer. " Right there at my mammogram appointment, I was set up with a surgeon and biopsy appointment.
