HPCANYS Receives Inaugural Trailblazer Award
The Hospice and Palliative Care Association of New York State (HPCANYS) was the honored recipient of NHPCO’s inaugural Trailblazer Award which was presented in late March during the NHPCO Management and Leadership Conference. HIPCANYS’s efforts resulted in the inclusion of hospice and palliative care in the New York State Medicaid Redesign and passage of three important pieces of legislation—the Hospice Modernization Act, the Palliative Care Access Act, and the Family Health Care Decisions Improvement Act. All were signed into law in 2011.
