Don Berwick, Dan Heath, and Ellen Goodman Set the Stage as MLC 2013 Plenary Speakers
“Cutting Edge of the Care Continuum” is the theme of this year’s Management and Leadership Conference, with events and programming that will help hospice leaders and managers rethink, refocus and re-energize their work within the ever-changing healthcare environment. Each day will begin with a keynote plenary—and this year’s speakers make quite a line-up:
April 25 Plenary:
Donald Berwick, MD
Don Berwick is the country’s leading advocate for high-quality healthcare. He will speak on “Rapidly Improving Care in the Last Years of Life to Achieve the Triple Aim.” As part of the plenary, he will share his thoughts on how to promote a national discussion on advance care planning and how to integrate it into healthcare during all stages of life. He’ll also discuss different ways that providers can work in their communities, alone and in partnership, to deliver better healthcare, improve the health of family caregivers, and help the healthcare system lower costs. His Experience: During his 22-plus year career, he served as the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; founder and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (a nonprofit dedicated to improving healthcare around the world); a practicing pediatrician; and a professor at the Harvard Medical School.
