As has been our custom for several years now, we dedicate one issue a year to new hospitality products, expanding our usual coverage to include even more items you will want to consider as you specify. We also include additional designer proﬁles to reveal the men and women behind the scenes in their creative lives. The issue provides a ﬁne opportunity to introduce our new associate editor, Ashleigh VanHouten. With an extensive portfolio of freelance writing, editing, and marketing achievements, Ashleigh has already plunged into the hospitality industry with her appearance at HD Boutique and her solid contributions to this issue. I’ve asked her to offer her ﬁrst impressions of the industry and her plans for becoming HD’s point person for new products: “I rounded out my ﬁrst week as associate editor at HD Boutique in Miami—not a bad way to start a new job!—amidst a whirlwind of meetings, parties, and business cards. Coming from an editorial position with a fashion and lifestyle publication, the hospitality industry is relatively new to me, but equally colorful and fast-paced. The variety and innovation of the products at Boutique were matched only by the enthusiasm of the people representing them; I’m proud to do my part in showcasing these incredible products Photo by Clodagh and their creators within HD magazine. As the hospitality industry continues to evolve, so too will our publication and the ways in which we meet the needs of our readership—I can’t wait to be a part of it. I’ve already learned so much in my new position, thanks in large part to the great team at HD. Probably the most valuable lesson so far, though, is how much I have yet to learn and see, and I’m excited about the future of our publication and the industry as a whole.
