Incentive - September 2009 - (Page 6)

SEPTEMBER 2009 EDITOR’S NOTE Follow Incentive On Twitter here was a time when you could get arrested for following someone. Now it’s all the rage. Electronically anyway. Everybody’s following everybody on Twitter. It’s actually been around for a few years, but it’s just now gaining the traction to break into the mainstream. I first heard about Twitter a couple of years ago, when I was embroiled in a customer service fight with HewlettPackard and FedEx. Never mind the gory details, but suffice it to say, I shipped my computer to HP to be repaired and never saw it again. Of course at the time, I was boring everyone in my life silly with my tale of woe. Finally, a techie friend suggested I tweet about it. I said, “Huh?” He proceeded to tell me about how lots of people were using this technology to complain about customer service and a lot of companies were responding. So I jumped online, started an account, and proceeded to call HP and FedEx a bunch of, um, let’s just say not nice people. Then I waited for justice. And waited. And waited. And waited. Eventually I forgot all about Twitter. Until earlier this year, when the demonstrations in Iran protesting the results of the country’s presidential election occurred. It was widely reported that when the government clamped down on all forms of communication in an attempt to stop the demonstrations, Twitter became an indispensable source of information for those beleaguered people. So it actually can work effectively to bring people together and spread information. That’s why Incentive has launched a Twitter page, at www.twitter.com/Incentive_Mag, to post breaking news and other tweets related to the incentive industry. Our page has already gained a following that includes many notable figures and companies in the incentive industry. If you are already on Twitter, simply visit our page and click “Follow” underneath our banner. Or you can sign up for a free Twitter account to get started. This form of communication might very well become as indispensable to doing business as e-mail. You’ll need a computer to participate, and fortunately there are lots of reputable brands out there to choose from. As for me, I’ll be tweeting from a Mac. www.incentivemag.com Editorial and Executive Offices 770 Broadway, New York, NY 10003-9595 (646) 654-4500, Fax (646) 654-7650 Vice President & Group Publisher Nella Veldran (646) 654-7325, nella.veldran@nielsen.com EDITORIAL Editor In Chief Vincent Alonzo (646) 654-7361, vince.alonzo@nielsen.com Senior Editor Leo Jakobson (646) 654-7642, leo.jakobson@nielsen.com Managing Editor William Ng (646) 654-4451, william.ng@nielsen.com Contributing Editors Andrea Doyle (201) 483-7227, andrea.doyle@nielsen.com; Kinley Levack (646) 654-4436, kinley.levack@nielsen.com Special Projects Director Karen Gines (646) 654-7647, karen.gines@nielsen.com T ART Art Director Michael Strong (646) 654-7471, michael.strong@nielsen.com PRODUCTION Production Manager Anita Wise (646) 654-7298, anita.wise@nielsen.com CIRCULATION, SUBSCRIPTION & ADDRESS CHANGES (847) 763-9050, Fax (847) 763-9037, E-mail iv@halldata.com LIST RENTAL Postal info (845) 731-2731, E-mail info (845) 731-3854 REPRINTS Diana Sholl (800) 501-9571 x162, diana.sholl@theygsgroup.com PERMISSIONS & LICENSING Barbara Grieninger (646) 654-4675, barbara.grieninger@nielsen.com MEDIA KIT www.incentivemag.com/mediakits ADVERTISING Associate Publisher Monique Agaliotis (646) 654-7638, monique.agaliotis@nielsen.com Midwest Marvel Jasnoch (507) 663-1480, marvel.jasnoch@nielsen.com Florida Arthur Hyman (561) 736-5374, arthur.hyman@nielsen.com West Coast and Hawaii Peter Edmunds (714) 963-3499, peter.edmunds@nielsen.com International/Caribbean Diane DiMaggio (646) 654-7332, diane.dimaggio@nielsen.com MARKETING Marketing Director Robert Kuwada (646) 654-5159, robert.kuwada@nielsen.com Vincent Alonzo Editor In Chief vince.alonzo@nielsen.com President: Greg Farrar Senior Vice President, Human Resources: Michael Alicea Senior Vice President, Brand Media: Andrew Bilbao Senior Vice President, Media & Entertainment: Gerry Byrne Senior Vice President, Finance: Sloane Googin Senior Vice President, Retail: David Loechner Senior Vice President, Content: Scott McKenzie Senior Vice President, Building & Design: Joe Randall Senior Vice President, Central Services: Mary Kay Sustek Chief Operating Officer, Entertainment: Howard Appelbaum Vice President, Manufacturing & Distribution: Jennifer Grego Vice President, Licensing: Andrew Min Vice President, Client Marketing: Sue Tremblay Vice President, Audience Marketing: Joanne Wheatley 6| Incentive | September 2009 | incentivemag.com http://www.incentivemag.com http://www.incentivemag.com/mediakits http://www.twitter.com/Incentive_Mag http://www.incentivemag.com
