As I mentioned in my last column, we’ve pushed the deadline for entries to June 10, which, hopefully, will allow more of you an opportunity to enter, especially those with projects that wrapped up toward the end of last year. Before then, expect to see a report on KBIS trends in the May/June issue, which incidentally will also be our very first Products issue. What that means exactly, I have yet to completely flesh out. No doubt walking down the aisles and checking out the new products at KBIS will help crystallize some ideas. Yes, KBIS is finally here, and like many of you, I look forward to seeing what 2011 has inspired in the kitchen and bath world. What hot new technologies and trends will help shape our homes and lives going forward? If Europe is any indication, then the future looks exciting—and electronic. Recently, I had the opportunity to spend a day and a half at ISH in Frankfurt, Germany. This being my first time at the show, I was completely overwhelmed by its size and the number of plumbing companies and products on display. While I haven’t had much of a chance to process all that I saw, I did want to share an image of one standout. Of course, it only seems right that I first mention I was invited to Germany by faucet manufacturer KWC. Nevertheless, one can’t deny the sheer cool factor of its Ono touch light PRO (above). The faucet operates via touch—tap once for cold water, twice for warm and three times for hot— and an electronic “tip control” unit that allows you to wirelessly control the faucet after it’s been properly synced up. You can place it anywhere on the sink for easier access, which makes it a user-friendly option for those with mobility issues. This was one of many interesting products on the show floor at ISH, but you’ll have to wait for a full report in an upcoming issue. Until then, have a wonderful KBIS!
