NEWH new corporate partner –
signature hospitality carpet!!!
by Janice Marko, Marko International
Signature Hospitality Carpets is no
run of the mill carpet company. The
Dalton, Georgia-based, mid-sized
manufacturer of carpet for the hospitality industry prides itself on
combining the state-of-the-art technical capabilities of a large mill with
the attentive, personalized service
of a smaller operation. With more
than 75 years of experience in the
hospitality industry, Signature is a
valued corporate partner and longtime supporter of NEWH.
With an extremely focused vision of
how business should be done, the
company strives daily to operate in
a manner that underscores the honesty, integrity, and good value that
are the principles behind its consistent growth and serve the designers and purchasers of hospitality
products better than anyone else in
the industry.
Janice Marko of Marko
International and Director/
Corporate Development, NEWH,
Inc. spoke recently with Bob
Thomas, Executive Vice
President of Signature
Hospitality Carpets about
the state of the industry and
their perspective on partnering with NEWH:
years. Money is available to the
people that have proven themselves and for projects that make
sense. These factors will limit much
of the overbuilding that has
plagued the industry in the past.
JANICE MARKO: How long have you
been familiar with NEWH and it’s
affiliation with the industry?
BOB THOMAS: I have been familiar
with NEWH since the late 1980s
when Jillian Van Dresser asked me
to assist her in a fund-raising golf
tournament for the Atlanta chapter.
I have attended meetings and
fundraising events at virtually every
chapter in the country and have
watched the organization grow
over the years to become a strong
force within our industry.
JANICE MARKO: Why did Signature
partner with NEWH?
BOB THOMAS: Partnering with
NEWH has long been a goal of
ours, and the timing has finally
JANICE MARKO: The industry
has been a little rocky in the
past few years and seems to
be rebounding. Where do
you think the industry is
going?
BOB THOMAS: I feel very
good about the hospitality
industry right now. We are
busy, but not too busy, and I
feel this level of business is
sustainable for at least 2-3
“City Scapes” is part of our
28
come together to make that a reality. We have long believed in the
organization, its goals, and its professional leadership. As I travel the
country now, I run into multiple
design firms that have interior
designers employed who received
their scholarships. To me, that completes the circle that NEWH has
worked toward all these 20+ years.
JANICE MARKO: What are your
expectations from our partnership?
BOB THOMAS: This is my way of contributing to a wonderful effort to
award scholarships. Not only is
Signature contributing monetarily,
we are also committing our time to
furthering these efforts.
JANICE MARKO: Bob, how do you
think the partnership between
Signature and NEWH will help you
to reach your business goals in the
industry?
BOB THOMAS: NEWH worked with us
to create the Bright Eyes program
which contributes to the
NEWH scholarship program
through carpet sales. This
corporate sponsorship is the
next step in a partnership
with NEWH that will further
both of our goals in the hospitality industry. NEWH will
achieve their goal of raising
scholarship money, and
Signature will be able to
increase recognition of our
phenomenal carpet company. Ultimately, this will
increase our sales and
enable us to donate more
money to NEWH through
our “Bright Eyes Program.”
It’s a cyclical relationship that
serves us both very well.
Program.
