from the president’s desk It has been a very productive year for NEWH; here are just a few of the things that have been happening. Recap of the happenings during HD Expo: HD Expo was an extremely productive time for NEWH, as we held our Board of Directors and House of Delegates meeting. During this meeting, we took time to personally thank and honor those Executive Committee members who over the years have given so much of their time and energy to NEWH. • Elsie Dahlin, CEO/President ELA Serving NEWH, Inc. from 1991-2003 • Nikki Jones, President NJ Associates Serving NEWH, Inc. from 1992-2005 • Jillian Van Dresser, President Van Dresser Company Serving NEWH, Inc. from 1990-2006 • Laura Nankin, National Project Manager Artistic Framing Serving NEWH, Inc. from 1998-2005 • Russ Walvoord, Contract Sales Manager Fabricut Contract Serving NEWH, Inc. from 1995-2005 As well, we welcomed our new 2006 Executive Committee members: • Priscilla Nesbitt, Best Western International, Inc. Vice President of Finance NEWH, Inc. The Silent Auction produced all out bidding wars over the great items offered (each year it just keeps getting better and better). A huge THANK YOU goes out to Stacy Berman for all her efforts and to all of those who so generously supported it. New membership benefits: NEWH has implemented several new Business Level Memberships, geared specifically toward businesses who would like to have numerous members. The new levels are “Friends of NEWH,” “Associates of NEWH” and “Chapter Level Business Memberships.” Get all the information on these memberships levels at our website www.newh.org. Upcoming initiatives and events: Keep an eye out for some very exciting information on the NEWH Green Initiative, “Sustainable Hospitality,” being chaired by Jillian Van Dresser. As well as enhanced features to the NEWH, Inc. website (www.newh.org). Mark your calendars: • August 24, 2006, as the Regional Trade Show goes to Dallas • January 25-28 NEWH International Conference Niagara Falls, Canada (A passport will be required to enter the Canada, so apply now) As you can see, it’s been a very productive and exciting year. To date we have raised $136,495, (our UK chapter alone raising an astounding £41,000). To put this in perspective, this equates to 342 boxes which will aid in the education of over 27,000 students! THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed.
