As an industry leader in hospitality carpet, Durkan knows that color, styling, and design determines the entire look and feel of a space. With that in mind, Durkan continues to focus on giving its customers what they are looking for—good design. In order to continue to be an innovator and provide fresh ideas to carpet design, Durkan has named Barbara Marcy as its new creative director for product development and design. “Barb Marcy has a unique breadth of hospitality design experience, which will translate especially well to her new role, and will continue to advance our differentiation in the marketplace” says Lee Blair, , senior vice president of Durkan. Marcy’s background includes a BFA and a master’s degree in interior design. After eight years as a designer, Marcy spent the last 12 years as an award-winning sales representative with Durkan. And ” next year promises to be a breakthrough year for Durkan design. NLP Furniture has introduced two new products, the Premier™ Series I and the Premier™ Series II Sleeper. The Series I Sleeper is engineered specifically with hotels and timeshares in mind. It features a simple, yet durable pullout system that easily converts the sofa to a bed with a minimal amount of effort. The sofa sleeper is available in various in-line styles as well as custom, while the sleeper is available in various sizes including queen, full, twin, and chair. This product has gained popularity because it is simple to operate by housekeeping, which eliminates potential workers compensation claims filed from injuries caused by similar products. Developed with the contract market in mind, the Series II Sleeper has a durable pullout system that easily converts the sofa to a bed and is offered in many different styles. The unit is easy to disassemble for setup and will fit through most any doorway. By listening to its customers, NLP succeeded to design and engineer a new sleeper for the hotel industry that was effortless, lightweight, and easy to operate. Next, NLP will be targeting the senior living market. “[It] has a lot of room for growth as baby boomers transition from their residences into senior living communities, says Ken Jones, ” president of NLP Furniture. “Our products at NLP lend themselves very nicely offering a residential feel yet built to hold up to constant use. ” “NEWH is a great organization to be a part of, says Joseph Cabrera, CEO of NLP Furniture ” Industries. “It is an honor to work with, and be a partner of an organization that is so committed to education within our industry.
