The audience listened to an informative presentation by a Don Julio and Cuervo representative and dined on a three-course tapas-style meal paired with various tequila. Gotta Wear Shades The Sunshine chapter recently held its annual bowling fundraiser. This year’s theme: Sock Hop. Serious Scholarships The South Florida chapter awarded nine hospitality student scholarships totaling $12,000 during its first-ever Back to the Future Roundtable dinner at the Eden Roc Resort in Miami Beach. The evening brought together South Florida’s hospitality leaders who were asked to discuss relevant topics that the hospitality industry is currently facing. The event was highlighted by the scholarship award presentation. Discussion leaders were: Howard Karawan, the Fontainebleau; William Kidd, Hilton Worldwide; Don Griner, Choice Hotels; Chip Withers, Withers Worldwide; Jim Orlando, DooleyMack Constructors; Peter Fetten Carnival Cruise Lines; Bob Miller, First Florida Building Corp; Andrew Ingraham, NABHOOD; and Doug Parker, the Parker Company.
