As he says, “It is important to us that our owners enjoy first-class furnishings and design that parallels the high standard of service and amenities our hotel “There is something to eat everything including the metals...” —Dan Nelson president Vision Design is known for.” Yet according to designer Dan Nelson, president of Dallas-based Vision Design, creating such luxury in the Caribbean environment is as challenging as it gets. “There is something to eat everything including metals,” he says. “Bermuda sits in the middle of the ocean with constant salt laden air.” Solution: Indoor/outdoor fabrics and tropical materials like bamboo and rattan, porcelain flooring, and aluminum window systems are baked with an enamel finish, and artwork is framed with specially sealed detailing. At the same time, the 19 two- and three-bedroom units, as well as the club room, reception, spa, and fitness center and pool have been meticulously designed to harmonize with the relaxed, slightly exotic Bermudian lifestyle. Pastel hues, rich fabrics, and mahogany furnishings are inspired by island landscapes. The standout: “The bathrooms have been a great hit as they have totally retractable living room sliding doors that make it a wonderful indoor/outdoor space when open,” Nelson says. 18 fall 2011 tel 800.593.NEWH
