The exhibition is now moving on to Berlin and Sydney. Custom seating manufacturer BK Barrit won three ADEX Platinum Awards for its Custom Lounge Chair, Pollock Elis 1, and Theatre Home Style Chair. The local chapters of NEWH, IIDA, AIA, ASID, CIDC, IFMA, and Source Four sponsored the second annual Design-A-Palooza event in August during Denver’s First Friday Santa Fe Artwalk. The event featured food trucks, wine and beer tastings, and an art show featuring design industry professionals. 2011 Wave of the Future honorees, those who are under 40 and making waves in the industry. New NEWH member and color expert Zara Stender reports that the Color Marketing Group announced the color of the year for 2012: Boyz-N-Berry, a deep rich purple with slight red undertones. Jeremy Gainey was recently promoted to JANUS et Cie’s key account manager for Marriott. Jessica Phillips Penn is now on the board of the Phillips Collection as vice president of sales. The Carroll Adams Group, which provides FF&E and OS&E procurement services for the hospitality industry, has a few announcements: Doug Seholm is now regional director based in the Kingdom of Bahrain; longtime employee Mary Boadway gave birth to Matthew Charles Johnson in February; and for the seventh year, the company provided free backpacks filled with school supplies to elementary and middle school children in the Orlando area. Hospitality Resources & Design (HRD) in Orlando relocated its design studio to 919-A Outer Road in Baldwin Park. The company also announces two promotions: Mary Daust to vice president and Beth Bierly-Goodworth to associate designer/project manager. HRD also welcomes two new senior associate designers, Cam Abascal and Cathy Stout, and this fall, HRD will launch their newly revamped website. Niemann Interiors has hired Megan Webber. The design firm also completed some renovation work, including the corridors, suites, and breakout spaces, as well as converting a restaurant to meeting space and redoing the first floor atrium seating, at the Sea World Renaissance in Orlando. Dawn Vojtush has accepted a job with Zyscovich Architects in Miami. Desso recently launched a new website for its hospitality division,, which features a design library with the carpet company’s 25,000 designs, and allows users to recolor or design their own carpet and view it in a virtual environment. Desso also announces three new sales reps: Leslie Carroll (Northern California); Julie Francis (Orange County and San Diego); and Debbie Lawrence (Las Vegas). Patti Gibson-Jones is design coordinator for Island One Resort, working on the renovation of the hotel company’s flagship property, Liki Tiki Village. Rollis Construction and Renovation, Inc. is set to handle the renovations. ISG recently finished the Hotel at Arundel Preserve in the Baltimore-Washington area, handling project management, inventory control, and installation. Meena Jotwani continues her work with the Guardian ad Litem program, advocating for the rights and best interest of Florida’s abused and neglected children. Ronni Whitman took home two ASID Gold Design Awards—Excellence in Bedroom and Bathroom Design—for a residential project. Sylvia Limm-Brown is expecting her first child in March. Innovative Stone, a wholly owned subsidiary of Innovated Global Brands (IGB), hired Cassandra Breza as an independent sales rep specializing in hospitality. Ginger Raphael is now the business development manager for Hospitality Purchasing Group International (HPG). Angela Cameron Fine Art recently provided large, dramatic, commissioned regionally inspired artwork for three elevator lobbies in the Russell Investments Centre in downtown Seattle. Tiffany Wilkerson, interior designer for WCI Inc., and Scott Weber were married on September 9th.
